 Overview

Labor Day is celebrated every Year in Pakistan on 1^st of May. This year Labor Day is will be celebrated on Wednesday of this week. Every year this day is celebrated to honor the contributions of our workers and labor associated with different industries. This day is true recognition and serve as a commemoration of struggles and triumphs of labor movements worldwide and specifically in Pakistan.

Labor Day 2024 Historical Significance

If we look into the history of Labor Day 2024 then we will come to know that its roots goes back to the 19^th century. During 19^th Century workers from around the world started conducting organized protests and strikes in order to get their due demands and rights. Initially these campaigns were conducted to get a better working condition for them with 8 hours working schedule. With passage of time this campaign started getting popular and world decided to recognize the efforts of their workers on a specified day like first of May every year.

Why are different dates for Labor Day in world?

Globally Labor Day is Celebrated every 1^st of May Every year but labor class of United States has decided to this day on first Monday of every September. This change was made because U.S worker wanted to show distance from associations with radicalism and socialist ideologies which was prevailing back in 19^th Century.

What is the Significance of Labor Day in Pakistan?

Since Pakistan is Poor country, most of the population of under the poverty line and their only source of income is through labor of different kind. This is Labor Day 2024 contains has its unique significance and importance in cultural and national perspective. This day is celebrated to honor to the efforts and contributions of workers in national development. Labor Day celebrations at National level in Pakistan Started in 1973 during governance of Zia-ul-Haq.

 When did Pakistan Started Celebrating Labor Day?

After Independence Pakistan Became the member of International Labor Organization which is an international agency working for the rights and justice for labor. Now on first of May Labor Day is Celebrated in Pakistan as a Public Holiday, all Government and private institutions remain closed and some seminars are conducted to raise awareness for rights of workers.

Labor Day 2024 is a true affection of solidarity and unity with labor class of country. It is a day when labor have the free liberty to advocate for their rights. This day servers as a platform and opportunity when they can raise their voice for their due concerns and demands as a unified force.

What we need to Improve on Labor Day 2024?

We celebrate Labor Day every year but it is sad to know that still our workers are not getting their due rights and justice. There is no regulation of 8 hours working schedule for labor. Even labor workers are not aware about their basic rights and they go to work on 1^st May every year just like a routine day. We need to aware them about their basic rights and should help them in this regards so that they can also live a happy and satisfied life.
